This story describes a typical situation we see in Squamish, not one specific customer.
The situation
A family home in Garibaldi Estates has a concrete driveway and a paver walkway leading to the front door. Moss had filled the paver joints and was starting to lift a few edges, and the driveway had dark patches under the cars and along the lawn edge.
With a new baby and a toddler, the owners mostly wanted the walkway safe to carry kids along in the rain.
Pavers need a different touch
High pressure aimed straight into paver joints blasts out the sand that locks the pavers together. Without it, pavers shift and weeds return faster.
We clean pavers at a lower angle and setting, clear moss and weeds from the joints, and leave the joints ready to be re-sanded.
How we approach it
The driveway is cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner for an even finish, and oil spots under the cars are pre-treated.
The paver walkway is cleaned with care around the edges and steps, then rinsed clear.
We'll tell you if re-sanding is recommended and whether it's included in your quote. Polymeric sand, which hardens once set, does a better job of resisting weeds than plain sand.
Run-off goes to the street drain or lawn, not into garden beds.
What to expect
Better grip on the walkway, a driveway that looks even again, and joints that stay weed-free longer if they're re-sanded.
Questions we hear
Do I need to re-sand my pavers?
If a lot of joint sand came out during cleaning, yes. It keeps pavers stable and slows weed growth.
Will the oil stains come out?
Most lighten a lot with pre-treatment. Old, deep stains may not disappear completely.
