Dryer vents in a Squamish townhome complex
Squamish has added a lot of townhome complexes in recent years. Their dryer vents often run a long way, and they rarely get cleaned.

This story describes a typical situation we see in Squamish, not one specific customer.
The situation
A strata council in a Squamish townhome complex started getting the same complaint from several owners: dryers taking forever, laundry rooms heating up, and in one case a faint burning smell. None of the vents had been cleaned since the complex was built.
Some units vent through the side wall, others up through the roof.
Why long vent runs clog
Townhome dryer vents often travel through floors and ceilings before reaching the outside. Every bend and every metre of horizontal duct gives lint a place to settle.
Roof-mounted vent caps can also get blocked by lint, debris or nesting birds, and they're out of sight, so nobody notices.
How we approach it
We schedule the work building by building and coordinate notices with your property manager.
For each unit, lint is blown out of the duct from the exterior wall vent or roof cap, using safe roof access where the vents exit up top. Owners who want the dryer side done as well can add an interior clean of the full lint trap housing.
Every unit gets an inspection and before-and-after photos, and units with crushed hoses or other issues are noted for the owner or council.
For the council
We can provide a simple summary after the job showing which units were cleaned and anything we noticed. Putting dryer vents on a yearly maintenance schedule alongside gutters and windows keeps them from building up again.
