Whistler · Dryer vent cleaning
A busy Whistler rental and its overworked dryer vent
Sheets, towels and ski gear after every stay: a rental dryer can see more use in a season than a family dryer does in a year.

This story describes a typical situation we see in Whistler, not one specific customer.
The situation
A property manager looking after several Whistler rentals noticed that turnovers in one unit were taking longer because the laundry wouldn't dry. Towels came out damp after a full cycle, and the cleaners said the laundry room got very warm.
The dryer itself had been checked and was fine.
Why rentals clog faster
Rentals do many loads of towels and linens, and towels in particular shed a lot of lint. More loads mean lint builds up in the vent much faster than in a typical home.
In winter, exterior vent hoods can also be partly blocked by snow, which slows airflow further.
How we approach it
We schedule around bookings and the turnover crew, so the unit is never out of action during a stay.
Lint is blown out of the duct from the exterior hood, which on some Whistler rentals means working from the roof where it's safe. The interior side, including the lint trap housing, can be added for heavily used rental dryers.
The manager gets an inspection note and before-and-after photos, along with anything else that needs attention.
How often?
Busy rentals usually benefit from a clean more than once a year. We can suggest a schedule after the first visit, once we've seen how much lint built up.
Questions we hear
Can you clean several units in one trip?
Yes. Grouping units makes scheduling easier for managers and keeps travel down.
Should I keep the exterior vent clear of snow?
Yes. A snow-blocked hood restricts airflow. Clearing it is a simple winter habit.
