Squamish · Gutter cleaning
Hospital Hill gutters with a steep drop below
On a hillside lot, the gutter on the downhill side can be three storeys off the ground, and the ground isn't flat.

This story describes a typical situation we see in Squamish, not one specific customer.
The situation
A home on Hospital Hill is built into the slope: one storey at the street, three at the back. The front gutters are easy. The back gutters sit high above a steep, planted slope with a retaining wall halfway down.
The owner had cleaned the front gutters themselves for years but had never been able to reach the back, which was now overflowing onto the lower deck.
Planning access on a slope
Before quoting, we look at what's under each gutter: solid ground, a deck, a slope, or a retaining wall. Ladders need firm, level footing, and on slopes that means levellers and stand-offs, or reaching the gutter from the roof with fall protection instead.
If a section can't be reached safely, we'll say so and suggest an alternative rather than take chances.
How we approach it
- Front gutters are cleared from ladders, back gutters from the roof edge with fall protection where the slope below is too steep.
- Debris is bagged as we go rather than dropped onto the slope and deck.
- Downspouts on the downhill side are flushed and checked for where they drain, since water released onto a slope can cause erosion.
What to expect
Every gutter cleared, including the hard-to-reach ones, and a note on any downspout that's draining somewhere it shouldn't.
Questions we hear
Do you need to walk on my roof?
Sometimes, on hillside homes where ladders can't be footed safely. We'll explain the plan before we start.
Can you clear gutters above my deck?
Yes. We protect the deck surface and clean up any debris that falls.
