Roof cleaning and moss removal in Squamish

We remove moss by hand and with low-pressure methods suited to the roofing material. On asphalt shingles, a moss treatment is always included to slow regrowth. Cedar shake and metal roofs each get their own method.
About our roof cleaning service
- Manual removal of moss and loose debris from the roof surface, ridges and valleys.
- Low-pressure rinsing or soft washing where the roofing material allows it.
- Clearing roof debris that falls into the gutters during the job, so the work doesn't leave your gutters worse off.
- On asphalt shingle roofs, a moss treatment is always included after cleaning to slow regrowth. It works gradually over the following weeks of rain and needs repeating over time. Cedar shake, metal and concrete tile roofs get a method suited to their material.
What we look at on a Squamish roof
How much of the roof is shaded and for how long, and whether overhanging branches are dropping needles directly onto it.
The roofing material. Asphalt shingles are common, but we also see cedar shakes on older homes and metal roofs on newer builds. Each one is cleaned differently.
Access and pitch. Steeper roofs and three-storey townhomes need more setup time and fall protection, which we account for in the quote.
Timing roof cleaning in Squamish
Don't leave moss for another wet season. The longer it stays, the more it lifts shingle edges, holds water against the roof and clogs gutters and downspouts, all of which shorten a roof's life.
Moss is easiest to remove when it's established but the roof is dry enough to work on safely. We schedule roof work around dry spells and won't work on a roof that's slick or iced.
Because cleaning sends debris into the gutters, it makes sense to book roof and gutter cleaning together.

FAQ
Roof cleaning in Squamish: questions
My roof is under big cedars. Is cleaning worth it if the moss comes back?
Usually, yes. Heavy moss holds moisture against the roof and lifts shingle edges. Regrowth is slower after a thorough clean and treatment, and periodic maintenance is quicker than a full clean.
Can you clean a cedar shake roof in Squamish?
Yes, gently and without high pressure. If the shakes look split or worn, we'll recommend having a roofer assess them before or instead of cleaning.
Do you pressure wash roofs?
Not asphalt or cedar roofs. High pressure can strip shingle granules or damage wood. We remove moss by hand and use low-pressure or soft-wash methods suited to the material.
Will the moss come back?
Moss can return, especially on shaded roofs near trees. An optional treatment after cleaning slows regrowth, and periodic maintenance keeps it under control.
