Clearing gutters in The Glen before Pemberton's freeze-up
Pemberton's winters are colder than on the coast. Gutters full of leaves in November become ice dams in January.

This story describes a typical situation we see in Pemberton, not one specific customer.
The situation
A family home in The Glen, one of Pemberton's established neighbourhoods near the trails into downtown, has a big maple out front and evergreens behind. Every winter, icicles hang off one corner of the roof and the downspout at that corner freezes solid.
In spring, they found a stain on the soffit and a gutter pulling away from the fascia.
Why the timing matters
Leaves that sit in gutters over winter hold water. When it freezes, it blocks the outlet, and the next round of meltwater has nowhere to go but over the edge, or behind the gutter.
Getting gutters clear after the leaves drop, and before the deep cold, gives meltwater a path through the system.
How we approach it
- We clear every gutter run by hand, with extra attention at outlets and corners where leaves collect.
- Downspouts are flushed and checked. If a downspout discharges onto a walkway or driveway, we'll point that out, since that water can freeze into a slip hazard.
- Any loose hangers or separated sections are noted for repair.
What to expect
Clear gutters ready for winter, debris hauled away (or left at your compost where it's accessible), and a short list of anything that needs fixing before the snow.
Questions we hear
When should I book in Pemberton?
Mid to late fall, after most leaves have fallen but before the hard freeze. Book early, as the window is short.
Can you fix a gutter that's pulling away?
We'll note it, but gutter repairs are best done by a gutter contractor.
