Roof cleaning and moss removal in North Vancouver

We remove moss by hand and with low-pressure methods matched to the roof. On asphalt shingles, a moss treatment is always included to slow regrowth. Cedar shake, tile and metal roofs each get their own method.
About our roof cleaning service
- Manual removal of moss and loose debris from the roof surface, ridges and valleys.
- Low-pressure rinsing or soft washing where the roofing material allows it.
- Clearing roof debris that falls into the gutters during the job, so the work doesn't leave your gutters worse off.
- On asphalt shingle roofs, a moss treatment is always included after cleaning to slow regrowth. It works gradually over the following weeks of rain and needs repeating over time. Cedar shake, metal and concrete tile roofs get a method suited to their material.
Shaded roofs
Moss grows fastest where a roof stays damp: north-facing slopes, sections under overhanging trees, and valleys where debris collects. We focus there first.
Trimming back overhanging branches, done by an arborist, can make a big difference to how quickly moss returns.
Don't leave moss for another wet season. The longer it stays, the more it lifts shingles, holds water against the roof and clogs gutters and downspouts, all of which shorten a roof's life.
Townhome and strata roofs
For townhome complexes, we can phase roof cleaning by building and coordinate access and notices with your property manager.

Stories from North Vancouver
- Roof valleys full of needles on a Lynn Valley homeThe valley is where two roof slopes meet, and where every needle on the roof eventually ends up.
- Skylights under the trees: cleaning glass you can't reach in Upper DelbrookA skylight is supposed to bring light in. Under North Shore conifers, it can end up framing a mat of needles instead.
- Thick moss on a shaded Canyon Heights roof, and why we didn't pressure wash itUnder tall trees on the upper slopes of North Vancouver, north-facing roofs can turn green in a few seasons. The fix is gentler than most people expect.
FAQ
Roof cleaning in North Vancouver: questions
Should I trim trees before roof cleaning?
If branches overhang the roof, trimming them first helps. We don't do tree work, but we can tell you which branches are dropping the most debris.
Do you pressure wash roofs?
Not asphalt or cedar roofs. High pressure can strip shingle granules or damage wood. We remove moss by hand and use low-pressure or soft-wash methods suited to the material.
Will the moss come back?
Moss can return, especially on shaded roofs near trees. An optional treatment after cleaning slows regrowth, and periodic maintenance keeps it under control.
